Young but soft with mild sherry highlights and a burst of candied mango
Review by Steve Kirwan
- Product Name: Grangestone Sherry Cask Finish
- Despcription: NAS Highland Double Matured Single Malt Scotch Whisky
- Price: $30
- Producer: Unspecified
- Parent Company: William Grant and Sons
- Additional Information: Grangestone is a bottler/blender owned by William Grant and Sons producing value-priced, high-quality Scotch expressions for mega-retailer Total Wine and More. Double-wood matured in American oak and finished in sherry casks, it’s a stupid-low-priced value for a very good single malt scotch.
REVIEW:
- Rating*: 3
- Nose: Soft sherry highlights and malty overtones with hints of spice, vanilla, and raisins.
- Palate: Medium-bodied and slightly oily, there is a backdrop of peat and leather, followed by bursts of toffee and fruitcake.
- Finish: Soft and mild finish with more wisps of leather and smoke. Then, in the end, bright mango and chocolate-covered-candied-orange notes.
